Tessellations are arrangements of shapes (same or different) with no overlaps and no gaps between them. We see these tessellations around us in roads, floor and ceilings. In this activity, we create a Rangoli pattern by tessellating different shapes. Shapes like triangles and quadrilaterals tesselate with themselves, but pentagons do not. Pentagons can be tessellated with the help of some other shapes. Penrose tessellations is one such pentagonal tiling.
